There's still no real word on what that new Skate game will be like, or if it'll even be called Skate 4, but at least that's something that franchise fans can look forward to.
The wait continues - Though the Skate series hasn't seen a fresh entry since 2010's Skate 3, EA announced that it was reviving the series back in 2020 with a new studio called Full Circle. Weve yet to see any substantial gameplay, although the devs have confirmed. The Skate franchise has been pretty dead since the launch of Skate 3.Everything changed when EA officially announced a new Skate game last year. At least you can still play the game's single-player mode. EA has announced that the Skate 2 servers for PlayStation and Xbox will be shutting down in a little less than a month, bringing an end to over a decade of skateboarding fun. That said, this move by Xbox is exactly the sort of thing that would give the game a second wind, if only for a few weeks or so. so basically either unplug your ethernet cable or suffer everytime you start a new challenge. the same thing happened when the new xbox experience came online, everything was super slow when connected, but if you unplug, everything's groovy. Let's be honest: there probably aren't that many people playing Skate 2 these days on any given weekday, though we might be wrong. i don't know how much data they're trying to transfer between the game and the servers, but it's a big drag. As you might expect, the top reply to the tweet castigates EA for "killing the mood" brought on by the announcement.
"It's not an easy decision and not something we take lightly," the post states in part. I cannot connect to EA nation on my xbox one i have tried just about everything and nothing has worked, it was working in the morning for me but when i restarted my console the game was back to not connecting to the servers, I have tried to find a way to link my xbox GT to my origin account to see if that would help but i cant figure out how to do it and everything online is outdated. The studio shortly followed this up, however, with a short but disappointing reminder that the games servers wouldnt be sticking around for too much. Is EA implying that a Skate 3 remaster or even a Skate 4 announcement is on the cards? If Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 are anything to go by, surprise sequels shouldn't ever be entirely out of the question.Turn switch to "off" - In a tweet responding to Xbox's expansion of its library, the official Skate Twitter account stated that the servers for the game will be turned off on Decemon both Xbox and PlayStation. In tweets from the Skate Twitter account (below), the team at EA celebrated with fans after Skate 2 was announced to be one of over seventy titles that would be making its way to Xbox One and Xbox Series XS consoles via backwards compatibility. But to do so just before gaming's biggest annual expo will no doubt raise a few eyebrows. The reasons behind EA's apparent decision to revive the Skate 3 servers are unclear. EA cited falling player numbers when certain online features began to disappear around 2013, eventually pulling servers down in 2016. Skate 3 is the third iteration of the extreme sports franchise and first launched in 2010. You better not be trolling or otherwise.Boy. Fellow Skate enthusiast RobinGaming corroborated the news, tweeting: "Skate 3 servers just magically went back online. After over 10 years hiatus, a new Skate game is in. Skate 4 (TBA) on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will reboot the Skate series on new technology. Skate 3 (2010) on PS3, Xbox 360 with more difficulty settings and online modes.
YouTuber X7 Albert posted a video which indicates servers are functioning again, bringing back community parks, photo and video galleries, team lobbies, player profiles and more. Skate It (2008) on Wii, DS and iOS a spin-off for motion and touch screen controls. A number of sources are reporting the game's servers have been inexplicably resurrected - just in time for E3. However, it looks like EA's Skate 3 might just be an exception to the rule.
When a developer or publisher kills a game's online services, it's usually an indication that game is in the twilight years of its life.
